The deluxe editor also does all of those things, plus you can:Ĥ. Once installed, access this editor by going upstairs to Redbeard's Tower and talking to any one of the guards there. Basically the same as retraining with Leala in the Beraza Woods, except that it will also reset the editor, so that the character can use it again if desired. The only exception is Steel Discipline for Shadowwalkers - this skill is just too powerful to risk raising above the 8 limit.ģ. Raise any character's first-tier skills (including auxiliaries) by 3 points each. Non-shadowwalkers won't see the skill on the screen, but it will still work.Ģ. Raise your main character's locksmith skill by 4 points-this works for any class. You can then switch the order back, and use the editor again as desired. It will also reset the editor as if you had never used it. The deluxe editor offers the option to retrain (respec) everyone at once, which will get rid of your extra skill points and allow you to reassign your natural skill points. If you have also changed the roster order, then you may be unable to change it back.ĭon't worry, this is fixable. Depending on when and to what extent you use the editor, it's possible to end up with skill points you can't spend, due to having reached the cap in all of your trainable skills. >\The game won't let you move a character up or down in the roster if (s)he has unspent skill points. If you have changed the party order at all, you should switch it back before using the editor. This means that when you are in Avadon - the only place where you can see everyone at once - the character avatars should appear on the roster in this order from top to bottom: Once you have an editor installed (see download links and installation instructions below), it's very important that your party be in the starting order before you use it otherwise skill points will be allocated incorrectly, potentially wrecking your party. This is the simplest way to avoid having to re-download the whole game if a file happens to be corrupted. On a related note, always be sure to back up all files before replacing or altering them in any way. First, and most important, the editors are unofficial and not supported by Spiderweb Software. There are some things you should know before you begin. The deluxe version will let you build a party of incredible power, while the no-frills version is for those who would just like all classes to have access to lock-picking, and perhaps to have a few extra skill points to play with. They're both designed to be flexible - you can use them as much or as little as you like. Why two? Different players want different things from an editor. Two different Character Editors for Avadon: The Black Fortress These editors are not made or supported by Spiderweb Software. Even if you only install it and never actively use it, your game may change in ways you don't expect or want. If you're going to make an 'old school' retro style game of any kind, it should give the appearance that it's old school but under the hood it should be more on a par with the games people are used to buying today.WARNING: Installing an editor involves modifying your game files. Not 2020, it's like a 15 years behind 2020. I didn't even mention the screen flickering, the faded colors, it's like the game is from the 1990's and a poor attempt was made to bring it into 2005. From my perspective, it's unplayable in it's current state. I only paid 3 bucks for it, but I refunded it. I attempted to adjust it to other settings 1920x1080, 1680x1050 and it doesn't help, in fact it shrinks the box of the play area even smaller like I was playing on a monitor that had those resolutions and a smaller screen size, it's comical to run into these kinds of problems even before you try to play the game. My Monitor's resolution is 2560x1440, the game screen play area is so tiny it's like playing with micro miniatures. It reminds me of the kind of game you could buy in the Big Lots Bargain bin 10 or 20 years ago. This game, in 2020 should be of a higher quality.
